Our Vision
To provide accurate and updated geospatial information needs for the overall developmental projects of the state
Our Mission
To continuously generate quality Geospatial Information to enhance planning, budgeting and physical infrastructure development
Our Goal
Our Goal is to Provide and Increase Awareness of the Geography of EKITI while Promoting the Use of EKITI Geographic Information and Resources
Our Goal
- Our Goal is to Provide and Increase Awareness of the Geography of EKITI while Promoting the Use of EKITI Geographic Information and Resources
- The implementation of a fast-track “One-Stop-Shop” public facility for all land-related services that:
- Will improve service delivery,
- Will streamline the processes associated with land registration,
- Ensures ground rent payments, and property development,
- Promotes investments and tourism (Economic Development).
Objectives
We are focused on ensuring the delivery of solution components that will have profound medium-term impacts on several key aspects of the State Government’s priority areas for governance and development, including:
- Digitization of existing paper-based land records and sanitization of land registration and titling, as well as resolution and elimination of multiple allocations, which will increase the acceptability and value of Ekiti State Government-issued land titles for financial transactions with direct positive impact on:
- Local business transactions,
- Real estate markets, and
- Even foreign direct investments (FDI).
- 2 The digitization and re-certification of all Land Titles (Certificates of Occupancy and Rights of Occupancy) registered in the state using the Land Information System (LIS) application, which will generate substantial revenues for the State Government’s coffers (Revenue Generation).
- 3 Land valuation and property tax assessment for the introduction of additional, and sustainable, sources of internally generated revenue (IGR).
- 4 Digitization of street centre-lines, street names, house numbers, street address standardization and geo-coding will provide the basic ingredients for the evolution of:
- A modern tourist/investor-friendly city and
- Lay the foundations for address-based citizen location/identification
- 5 Mapping of schools, health care facilities and other social infrastructure in relation to:
- Local population
- Demographic indicators
- 6 Digitization of road transportation infrastructure:
- From vectorization of as-built engineering drawings / satellite imageries
- Field survey / “ground-truth” exercises),
- The subsequent development of a GIS-based Roads Infrastructure Management solution, as a pilot application, to support the State Government’s roads & highways planning, construction and maintenance efforts.
- 7 Digitization of water distribution pipeline infrastructure and house connection points:
- From vectorization of as-built engineering drawings &
- Field survey / “ground-truth” exercises, for the planning, development and sustainable management of potable water infrastructure – another key priority of the State Government.
- 8 From vectorization of as-built engineering drawings & Mapping, charting and classification of forestry and agricultural land cover for:
- land use planning and strategic development of commercial and large-scale agriculture and forestry,
- With particular emphasis on economic crops such as cocoa, oil palm and forest trees (for timbre production).
- Directly through large-scale, precision farming, and
- 9 Inventory and digitization and cataloguing of environmental degradation and hazardous sites, including:
- Gully erosions,
- Abandoned mines,
- Flood zones etc.,for possible reclamation/ remediation actions, and
- 10 Mapping and charting of archaeological sites for the:
- Promotion and
- commercialization of Ekiti State cultural heritage and the promotion of tourism.
- 11 Training and retraining for incremental productivities: To increase the capacity of individual staff, and to develop their abilities, individually and collectively, to ensure the sustainable development (social, economic and environmental) of the state, based on the use of geospatial technology.
